Mini Reviews (October 2022 Reads)

Hi bookish friends!!

Hope you’re all doing well!!

Today I’m back to share some quick thoughts on some of the last few books I had left from my October reads!!

I’m finally all up to date with my reviews!! Woohoo!!!

So, let’s dive right in!!

(If you would like to know more about the books just click on the book covers or titles and you’ll be taken to their Goodreads page.)

Amari and the Great Game by B.B. AlstonπŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™1/2

Amari and her friends are back for another exciting and action-packed adventure. Although a little slower than Amari and the Night brothers this was still a fun and engaging read that I flew through. I was a little disappointed with the ending but still can’t wait to continue the series.

Verity by Colleen HooverπŸ’™πŸ’™1/2

This was a well-written book that I liked but wasn’t blown away by.

The plot was interesting and kept me reading to the end. However, I did find it had started to get repetitive in places and I wasn’t a fan of the sex scenes that seemed to appear in nearly every chapter.

As for the characters, well I didn’t particularly like any of them. I just found them quite predictable and honestly just found them very annoying.

This was my first Collen Hoover book and sadly it didn’t live up to all the hype. Honestly, I don’t think I will be picking any more of her books up anytime soon. I just don’t think her books are for me.

Undoctored: The Story Of A Medic Who Ran Out Of Patients by Adam Kay πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™

Having read and enjoyed both This Is Going To Hurt and The Nightshift Before Christmas, I was looking forward to picking this one up.  Now although I liked most of this book, I didn’t enjoy it as much as the other two.  I enjoyed the honesty, but I did find that it lacked his usual humour and somehow the book felt a little too personal. It’s really hard to explain but I just felt like he was trying to justify being gay. I mean it shouldn’t matter what his sexuality is as long as he’s happy.

Sadly a little disappointed with this one but definitely haven’t been put off from picking up more books by Adam Kay in the future.
