The Dead Chronicles of Martha Railer Series by Henry Bassett (Final 3 books)

Hi Bookish Peeps,

Hope you’re all doing well.

Today I’ll be sharing my thoughts on final three books in The Dead Chronicles of Martha Railer Series by Henry Bassett. I’ve been following the series from the very beginning, but had got around to reviewing the final 3 books. But I’m now ready to share my thoughts on them and the series as a whole.

I would like to say a massive thank you to Henry for sending me digital copies of all the books in the series in exchange for honest and unbiased reviews.

So, let’s get into my mini reviews!!

(If you would like to know more about each book just click on the book covers and you’ll be taken to their individual Goodreads pages.)

Enlightenment (Book 4) – 💙💙💙

Enlightenment is the fourth book in the series. It continues to follow Martha as she struggles to keep her life on track. She continues to have weird hallucinations of the Headless Horseman. Work colleagues have started to notice a change in Martha’s behaviour and is forced to get some help. Martha starts on taking the new medication to help calm her hallucinations but she is not convinced that the tablets are actually working.

I thought this was a well written book, but a little on the short side. This is not necessarily a bad thing but I felt like by the time I got fully invested in what was happening the book was over. On the plus side I was lucky enough to have the next book in the series so didn’t have to wait to read the next book.

Knock Before Entering – 💙💙💙

The series continues with book five. Martha is taking her medication and things are looking up for her. But just as things are working out Martha decides to stop taking her medication, as she get curious as to whether she really needs them.

Once again a well written book. This book takes a turn and feels a lot darker and we also get a glimpse into what or who the Headless Horseman is. We also get to know a little more about what actually happened to Martha before all this started.

I really enjoyed the ending to this book it end with what felt like a mini cliff-hanger and was really excited to start the next book as right near the end of the book we are introduced to a new world.

The Awakening – 💙💙💙

The Awakening is the final book in the series and definitely not the read I was expecting. This one was much more action packed compared to the other five books. This one is set more in the new world, which I couldn’t quite work out, but never the less enjoyed discovering it. This is a book I can’t go into much detail about as it will definitely lead to spoilers. But I will say this was definitely my favourite of all the books.

For me this series did have its ups and downs, and personally think it would have worked better if all the books were combined into one novel. Again, I have mentioned this a few times but some dialogue would also have made it a little easier to understand what was happening and why, but overall I thought this was a good series. And definitely look forward to reading more from this author.

A massive thank you to Henry for sending me digital copies of all six books in return for honest and unbiased reviews.

To sum up, this series did have its ups and downs, and personally think it would have worked better if all the books were combined into one novel.
