WWW WEDNESDAY

Happy Wednesday Everyone!!!

Hope you’re all doing well!!!

Reading was going so good until the weekend ☹. Over the weekend my recovery hit a little bump. I wasn’t feeling too great πŸ€’ and my leg was quite painful so had to call the district nurse to come outΒ  to check my wound and dressing on Monday. Turns out I may have an infection starting somewhere below the surgery wound 😒. My doctor has started me on some strong antibiotics yesterday so hopefully they will start working soonΒ  and I can get back on track with my recovery and also get back on track with my reading.

Anyway let’s get into what you’re all really here for this weeks WWW Wednesday!!!

What is WWW Wednesday?

It’s a weekly meme that I first discovered on Roachies Reviews blog, and that is originally hosted by Taking on a World of Words.

All you have to do is answer 3 simple questions:

What are you currently reading?

What have you recently finished reading?

What do you plan to read next?

Currently Reading

The Betrayals by Bridget Collins – I received an stunning physical ARC of this book in the post on last week thanks to LoveReading UK and the publishers. I was planning to add it to my September TBR but I couldn’t resist.Β

Dear Justyce by Nic Stone – After hearing this one was available on NetGalley, I had to request a copy. I really enjoyed Dear Martin and hoping this one will go in the same direction.Β

Sepulchre by Kate Mosse – I’ve nearly finished this one. I have about 104 pages left to till I finish. I ended up downloading the audiobook and alternated between the two. I really enjoyed the first book Labyrinth and this one is pretty good too. I should hopefully be finished with this one by the weekend if not sooner.

Recently Finished

With Her Fists by Henry Roi – Yay!!! finished this one over the weekend. It was a good read but I did struggle in places. Hopefully I will be able to explain all in my review.Β

Blind Isolation by Henry Bassett – Another book I finally finished. I can’t believe it took me so long to read this 32 page book. It was an interesting read and in a strange way I liked it.Β

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins – I finally finished the audiobook. I was so looking forward to reading this book. It was good but at the same time but sadly it was a bit of a disappointment.Β

Reading Next

I’m really struggling to concentrate while reading and listening to audiobooks so if I manage to finish my current reads I hope to pick up either Origin by Dan Brown or Sleeping Beauties by Stephen KingΒ

What’sΒ  everyone currently reading, finished reading or planning to read next? Don’t forget to leave links to your WWW Wednesday

Happy Reading!!!

  1. OMG YOU HAVE AN ARC OF THE BETRAYAL I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE JEALOUS! But also you have a super nasty post operative infection so you deserve some niceness. I hope the antibiotics will make you feel better really soon Mani. Really sorry to hear that you are suffering more because of it. Hugs xoxoxo πŸ’œπŸ’šπŸ’™β€οΈπŸ’–πŸ’›πŸ’πŸ§‘

      • I emailed them too begging for it but it was a bit on a wing and a prayer because not U.K. based and I’ve heard nothing 😭😭 I’m hoping NetGalley will be kind instead 🀞🏻
I’m glad the antibiotics are kicking in. I got an infection in my wound after my hip surgery and wow was I sick. So I’m glad to hear things are looking up. πŸ’šπŸ’œβ€οΈ

      • 🀞 you’re approved for it on NetGalley!!!

I always end up with wound infections after all my surgery πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™€οΈ, so knew it would be coming at some point. But this time it hit me early on and never felt like I did before so knew something wasn’t right. Just need this pain to go away so I can get back to sitting properly and sleeping more comfortably at knight. Also doesn’t help that I’m impatient with the speed of recovery, it’s only been 2 weeks since surgery, but feels like it’s been forever πŸ˜‚πŸ™ˆ.

      • Oof, sounds like your doc should always put you on high strength preventative antibiotics post op. I swear I have this argument with a lot of doctors. It’s like they think prescribing immunocompromised and/or chronically ill people antibiotics is the same as the general able bodied masses and it’s not. Absolutely we don’t want antibiotic resistance to become a thing in the community at large but vulnerable patients need those antibiotics more quickly than they prescribe!!!
I feel you though Mani. You may be used to surgery but it’s never nice having to live through the post operative recovery and rehab. I’ve had a stupid number of surgeries as I’m sure you have too; I lost count after the fifty mark many years ago but I still get super frustrated.
Sending you all the gentle hugs and good vibes πŸ’›πŸ’–πŸ’™β€οΈπŸ’šπŸ’œ

      • Thanks Emer!!!

Normally they do give me antibiotics straight after surgery and the n I need a follow up course for the wound infection, but this time they said there was no need, obviously they were wrong. I so agree, they need to listen to their patients especially when they tell them they have had or are prone to infections after surgery. Yes am used to the operations now but definitely hate the post operative recovery!! Hugs back β€πŸ’—β€πŸ’—β€πŸ’—πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜

  2. Oh no, I’m sorry to hear about your wound getting infected! That sounds so painful 😦 I hope it feels better soon, Mani! I’d be keen to hear your thoughts on Sleeping Beauties. Tried reading that at some point last year but for some reason it was so difficult to focus. I want to try again though coz it does sound amazing! Happy reading and have a great rest of your week.

    • Thanks Dini!! Still a bit painful but the antibiotics are kicking in so hopefully not too long till it’s all healed up.

I might download the audiobook for Sleeping Beauties πŸ™‚.

    • I’m so glad you enjoyed Origin I’ve heard so many mixed things about it and a little worried it might be a disappointing read. I’m very behind on writing up my reviews but hoping to get back on track really soon. πŸ˜€
