Publication Date: 10th November 2011

Synopsis/Blurb (Taken from Goodreads):

“The house looked right, felt right to Dr Louis Creed.

Rambling, old, unsmart and comfortable. A place where the family could settle; the children grow and play and explore. The rolling hills and meadows of Maine seemed a world away from the fume-choked dangers of Chicago.

Only the occasional big truck out on the two-lane highway, grinding up through the gears, hammering down the long gradients, growled out an intrusive threat.

But behind the house and far away from the road: that was safe. Just a carefully cleared path up into the woods where generations of local children have processed with the solemn innocence of the young, taking with them their dear departed pets for burial.

A sad place maybe, but safe. Surely a safe place. Not a place to seep into your dreams, to wake you, sweating with fear and foreboding.”

My Thoughts & Review

This was a re-read for me. The first time I read this book was when I was at school. I remember picking it up as part of the school libraries Summer reading Challenge. This was one of the books that got me hooked on King’s books.

Pet Sematary is one of my favourite King’s books and think it always will be as this is where my love for horror really started.

I’m not going to go into the plot of this book because I think the little you know the better it is to read.

Pet Sematary does build up slowly but by the end the slow build up is definitely worth it. Even though I know what was going to happen I still couldn’t put this book down I managed to finish it within two. days.  I also really enjoyed getting to know the Creeds all over again, and watching them form friendships with their neighbours the Crandall’s across the road. As well as reading all the creepy things that were about to happen.

I loved everything about this book and I really don’t know what to say that hasn’t already been said so I’m going to leave it here and say that this is definitely one of my favourite Stephen King books and if anyone is looking for a great horror book then and you haven’t already read this one then you should check it out.

(I read this for the prompt Book Published in the Year You Were Born for the 2020 TBR Reading Challenge created by Mina @ Stacked Reviews)

    • 😂😂😂 I thought this was super mini because I didn’t go into a lot of detail and it literally only took me about 10 minutes to write. 🙈🙊
