Synopsis/Blurb (Taken from Goodreads):

“Elizabeth has received a letter from an old colleague, a man with whom she has a long history. He’s made a big mistake, and he needs her help. His story involves stolen diamonds, a violent mobster, and a very real threat to his life.

As bodies start piling up, Elizabeth enlists Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron in the hunt for a ruthless murderer. And if they find the diamonds too? Well, wouldn’t that be a bonus?

But this time they are up against an enemy who wouldn’t bat an eyelid at knocking off four septuagenarians. Can The Thursday Murder Club find the killer (and the diamonds) before the killer finds them?”

My Thoughts

We’re back with our favourite retirees Elizabeth, Joyce, Ron, and Ibrahim and their Thursday Murder Club with a new mystery to get their teeth into.

There are multiple storylines to follow in this one, and although I wasn’t a fan of these at first they do come together nicely by the end. I found this one had many more laugh out loud moments making it a much more of a fun read.

I thought the characters were better written and much more believable in this sequel compared to the first book. This may be because we’ve already got to know the main characters in the first book.

So, I started listened to the first book on audiobook and having loved the narrator Lesley Manville the first time I decided to continue the series on audiobook. Lesley does a fab job narrating all the different characters. She’s been able to make all the voices and characters distinguishable and really brought the book to life.

All in all, I found The Man Who Died Twice a fun and enjoyable read. Richard Osman’s books may not be for everyone but I think they are perfect for anyone looking for some escapism or just a fun, relaxing cosy read.
