Hi Folks!!
Welcome to my mini review post!!
For the last few weeks I’ve been seriously procrastinating when it comes to writing reviews and now I’m so behind!! In order to catch up I’ve decided to do another round of mini reviews to get back on track!!! These are just some of the books I haven’t been able to write full reviews for!!
(if you would like to know more about the books just click on the book images and you’ll be taken to their Goodreads page)

The Whisper Man by Alex North – 💙💙💙💙1/2
Another great book , that’s taken me way too long to get off the TBR shelf but I can finally move it to my read shelves. I thought this was well written with great character development and twists that left me hooked and wanting more.
If you’re looking for a creepy and unsettling read that is well paced then this is definitely a book to pick up!!

Punching The Air by Ibi Zoboi & Yusef Salaam – 💙💙💙
After seeing this book mentioned a many times on different platforms I decided to give it ago. I decided to give the audiobook a go and I was even lucky enough to download a copy from my library before the long wait started. I have to be honest I went into knowing little about this book except for the fact that it was written verse.
Now many people have loved this book to pieces and I can truly see why, but for me personally it didn’t quite live up to the hype. I mean it was an interesting read but I felt that the actual story was missing something. Personally, I think this particular story would have been better written into a full novel style book.
Putting aside the issues I had with this book, I still think it’s worth a read and would recommend the audiobook.

ELEVATOR PITCH by Linwood Barclay- 💙💙💙
I’ve read a few books by Linwood Barclay and I’ve become a fan, so when I read the premises of this book I couldn’t wait to pick it up. After reading the premises I thought I was going to get a tense thriller where I couldn’t stop turning the pages but unfortunately it didn’t turn out that way.
I found this to be more of a slow drama read than a fast paced thriller. I found the start of the book to be fast paced but as the book progressed things got slower and more confusing. I suspect this was due to the multiple POVs and backstory’s which didn’t quite come together and made things feel disjointed while reading.
The characterisation was also a little disappointing. I mean they weren’t terrible but they felt underdeveloped and I couldn’t really relate to any of them or cared for them.
All in all, not a bad read, but not the best I’ve read from this author.

The Stand by Stephen King – 💙💙💙💙💙
I’m a big Stephen King fan and I’m working my way (very slowly) through all his books. The Stand is one I’ve wanted to read for the longest. I’d been putting off picking it up simple because of the sheer size. It’s a massive book and I was worried I’d lose interest before getting to the end. But I finally plucked up the courage to pick it up and I’m glad to say I absolutely loved it.
I loved everything about this book, from the fab storyline to the detailed descriptions and the fab characters who feel like you’ve known for forever.
I did alternate between reading this physically and listening to the audiobook as I did have trouble holding my physical copy at times. If you’re planning on reading this one I highly recommend the audiobook especially the one narrated by Grover Gardner.

Nice review, Mani. Linwood Barclay’s No time for Goodbye was so good. I was trying to compare that with elevator pitch and felt slightly disappointed. Nevertheless, I still like his writing. I have a few books in my TBR.

Great mini-reviews! I was hoping to read Punching the Air last month but never got around to it but I’m looking forward to checking it out (hopefully) this month! The Stand is another book that I’ve been keen to check out (despite being such a chicken lol) but the size is defo intimidating! Glad to hear you enjoyed it though 😃
