Stranger Times Series by C.K.McDonnell (Mini Reviews)

Hi Bookish Friends,

Today, i’m sharing some quick thoughts on the first three books in the Stranger Times Series by C. K.McDonnell. I was lucky enough to be approved for all three books on NetGalley by the publishers Bantam Press.

Now lets get into my mini reviews!!

The Stranger Times 💙💙💙💙

This is the first book in the Stranger Times series. It’s not what I was expecting, but I ended up enjoying this one. It was a little slow to start, but I was quickly pulled into this strange but entertaining read.

The plot is pretty simple, but the weirdness and excellent cast of characters kept me engaged and wanting to read on.

I thought the cast of characters was well done. Yes, there were a couple I didn’t like at the start, but they definitely grew on me by the end of the book. They are a bunch of Misfits that were weird but funny, and they worked well together. I also loved the friendship and dialogue between each of them.

This is a great book to pick up, especially if you’re after a more chilled and entertaining read.

This Charming Man 💙💙💙💙

This is the second book in the Stranger Times series. It was great to see the employees of ‘The Stranger Times” paper back together again.

In this second instalment, we see Vincent Bancroft, editor of the paper, and his team are investigating 2 cases. The first is to find out who and why someone is trying to kidnap one of his employees, and the second is to find out why vampires are running around Manchester.

This was another weird but fun read. Although you could probably read this as a standalone, I would recommend you read the first book to understand the characters. I highly recommend the audiobook.

Love Will Tear Us Apart 💙💙💙💙

This is the third instalment in the Strangers Times series and we’re back for some more strange things happening around Manchester. The team are back investigating what is going on while trying to keep the paper up and running. There is a new assistant editor Betty who arrives out of nowhere, after Hannah ups and leaves after deciding she wants to get back with her ex-husband. Banecroft has become even more deranged and has now started to a ghost who has been possessed by his dead wife!

Like the previous two books, this was another fun and entertaining read. I loved the continuation of character developed and also enjoyed the return of a couple of characters that made an appearance in the previous books.

This is a very difficult to review without spoilers so can’t and won’t go into much more detail, but if you’re looking for a new fun and witty series this is definitely one to try out.

If you do decide to pick this series up I highly recommend you start from the start so you understand the all the weirdness and to understand the characters a bit more.

Have you read any of these books? What did you think? Leave a comment below and let’s have a chat.

Happy Reading!!!
