Synopsis/Blurb (Taken from LoveReading UK):

“No one expected them to go there. The question is: will any of them leave?

Six friends travel to a remote island north of the Scottish Highlands for an old school reunion. They’ve rented The Lighthouse – a stunning, now abandoned building that was once notorious for deaths at sea.

On the first evening, someone goes missing. The group search all through the night to no avail. But when the five remaining friends return to the lighthouse early the next morning, they are shocked to find James inside. He’s looks terrified – but won’t say a word about where he’s been.

The party vow to put the strange night behind them and enjoy the rest of their stay, but when more unexplained things begin to occur, tensions escalate. It’s clear James knows something, but nothing will persuade him to give up the secrets of the island. Is he protecting his friends from a terrible truth, or leading them into more danger?”

My Thoughts & Review

The Lighthouse follows 6 friends who get together for a reunion. They hope to spend a nice weekend together at a recently renovated lighthouse the is on the remote Scottish island. However, things don’t quite go to plan when items and even members of the group start going missing!!

This was an exciting story that pulled me in from the beginning and kept me guessing till the very end!! The story is well written with plenty of twists that I really didn’t see coming. I also really enjoyed how the story is told through multiple points of view. Each chapter is told from the perspective of one of the three main characters, Kira, Moria and Genevieve.

I really liked the way Fran has created an intriguing cast of characters. I must admit I did find them unlikeable, yet they were really believable and could relate to them.

This was a great story but the one thing that is niggling me is the ending, I’m not going to spoil it for those who haven’t read this yet, but I personally thought the ending was a little rushed. For me there weren’t enough pages left to wrap up all the things I was waiting answers for.

Minus the little issue with the ending all in all this was a great novel, and look forward to finding out what Fran Dorricott has to offer next. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an atmospheric, supernatural mystery.

I would like to thank LoveReading UK and the publishers Avon Books UK for my physical review copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
