WWW Wednesday – 21st July 2021

Happy Wednesday Folks!!

Welcome to this weeks WWW Wednesday!! Hope you’ve all had a great week!!

My week started off a little busy, with a couple more hospital appointments, and then I spent the rest of the week recovering from what I thought was cold, but turns out it wasn’t a cold at all instead it was some sort of allergy. To what I have no idea, but a couple of days taking antihistamines did the job!!

We’ve had a mini heatwave here in the UK, which I’ve been making the most of. I’ve spent loads of time reading in the garden. Over the weekend I brought a small paddling pool for my nephews so we’ve been making lots of use out of it!!

On the reading front it has been a great week!! I managed to pick up and finish some great books, so let’s get into this weeks reading update!!

What is WWW Wednesday?

It’s a weekly meme that I first discovered on Roachies Reviews blog, and that is originally hosted by Taking on a World of Words.

All you have to do is answer 3 simple questions:

What are you currently reading?

What have you recently finished reading?

What do you plan to read next?

The Couple at No.9 by Claire Douglas – I finally picked this one up over the weekend. I’m not very far into it but having read and enjoyed a few of Claire Douglas’s books previously I think and hope this will also be a great read.

Duma Key by Stephen King – Ok, so I haven’t really made much more progress with this one since my last update. I’ve decided to put it aside for now as I’m currently trying to lower my ARC/eARC TBR, as well as get ahead on some of my blog tour reads and finish some library books before they are due back. I’ll definitely be picking this one back up as soon as I can, as I’m really enjoying it.

Between The World And Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates – Ok, so technically I haven’t quite finished this at the time of scheduling this post last night, but I will definitely be finishing it by tonight. It’s a very interesting read.

Would I lie to you? by Aliya Ali-Afzal – This was such a great read!! I couldn’t put this one down!! I was hooked from the start!! Loved everything about it!! I received a proof copy of this book thanks to LoveReading UK. I’ll share my full thoughts on this book real soon.

Birthrights by Carly Rheilan – Finished another book for another upcoming blog tour, so once again can’t say too much about it as yet. It wasn’t what I was expecting but turned out to be a really good read. My stop for this one was on 16th August, so keep an eye out for my full thoughts on the book.

The Other Side of the Whale Road by K. A Hayton – So, I finally finished this for an upcoming blog tour organised by Dave @The_WriteReads. I won’t say too much about this at the moment but I did enjoy it. You can find out my full thoughts on Wednesday 25th August when it’s my stop.

Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata – What an interesting read this was. I was a little worried that I might not enjoy this one as translated books are a little hit and miss for me, but I ended up enjoying this one very much. I found it to be a nice quick and easy read.

Next I will be reading something for upcoming blog tours. I can’t tell you exactly which book I’ll be reading as I don’t have the dates to my stops to hand, but will definitely be picking up one of the following.

  • Lies Like Wildfire by Jennifer Lynn Alvarez
  • Wicked Little Deeds by Kat Ellis
  • Fairborn by Aisling Fowler

    • Thanks Tessa!! Yes it did, but I did work out the end lol, but was still good!! I’m loving Duma Key and The Couple at No.9 is just starting to get interesting and I’m only 2 chapters in, hoping it will stay that way throughout the rest of the book. 🀞 Happy Reading to you too!! ❀

  1. I’ve not been loving this mini heatwave at all as I am still working and even with two fans on it’s been too much for me! My reading has slowed down because the heat it making me angry and I just can’t be bothered with anything lol! I haven’t started Whale Road yet but I need to because I am on that tour as well. I have tonnes to read for tours in August so I really need to start getting organised lol!

    • I struggle with the any heat as my body can’t regulate my body temperature. But brought a paddling pool for my nephews so we’ve been cooling down with that, and been drinking only ice cold water, which has helped. When I’ve had to leave the house I take my hand held fan with me. I found it on Amazon last year and it’s amazing it’s so powerful. When at home not cooling down in the paddling pool, I’m in my bedroom with the fan on as it’s the coolest room in the house. Night’s on the other hand are a totally different story. At night my body seems to struggle even more to regulate my body temperature and tend to over heat, even in winter I sometimes have to keep the fan on. But I still love the heatwave πŸ˜‚.

Whale Road was quite a quick read so shouldn’t take too long to finish. I too have quite a few books for August tours. I discovered I’m signed up to a few more after posting my update πŸ™ˆπŸ˜….

      Happy Reading!!
