WWW Wednesday – 16th June 2021

Happy Wednesday Folks!!

Welcome to this weeks WWW Wednesday!! Hope you’ve all had a great week!!

Since last weeks post I’ve had a pretty relaxing week. I chilled out with my youngest nephew and have been enjoying the beautiful weather we’ve been having!!

The weekend was a little busier. We celebrated my dad’s birthday with some more yummy food and even more birthday cake!! I also attended my first ever virtual baby shower for one of my dear friends, who is expecting her first baby next month!!

Oh and I also visited my local library!! It finally reopened after closing during the first lockdown back in March 2020. Of course I came home with more books than planned!! I was meant to be just picking up 2 holds that had been waiting to be collected for over a year, but I couldn’t resist and came out with 3 extra books. 🙈

I made some great progress with reading this week and have managed to finish a few books and also started a whole stack of new ones, so lets get into my reading update!!!

What is WWW Wednesday?

It’s a weekly meme that I first discovered on Roachies Reviews blog, and that is originally hosted by Taking on a World of Words.

All you have to do is answer 3 simple questions:

What are you currently reading?

What have you recently finished reading?

What do you plan to read next?

(Click on book covers to be taken to Goodreads page)

The Vacation by John Marrs –  I was approved for an eARC of this book on NetGalley and I’m super excited to read it. I only started it last night so not very far into it at all. In fact I’ve only read about 4 pages!!

The Brothers of Auschwitz by Malka Adler – Recently I’ve been really getting into historical fiction novels that are based on Auschwitz so when I saw this one on the new books to try shelves at the library I had to pick it up.

The Firewatching by Russ Thomas –  This was chosen by my eldest nephew. He loves choosing my reads. Again I’m not very far into this one, but have heard good things about it from a couple of friends.

These Violent Nights by Rebecca Crunden – I’ve nearly finished I have 64 pages left!!!  I just don’t know what to say other than I’m absolutely loving it!!! I’m hoping to finish it this evening. Then the task of getting my review together will begin, I say task as every time I love a book I struggle to put down my thoughts in words, as you may have noticed!!

The Roses of May by Dot Hutchison –  Having finished The Butterfly Garden I couldn’t wait to get started on this. This the second book in the series, I was hoping to pick up a physical copy from the library but discovered it’s not available across any of the library platforms, so I ended up downloading the audiobook from Scribd. I raced through the audiobook. I really liking the series so far.

Autem by Lisa Ann Rowe – I finished this one on Friday!! It was a pretty fast read, and I really enjoyed it!! It continues on from the first book Animo which I read last year.

False Witness by Karin Slaughter – I also finished this one on Friday!! It was really gripping and definitely recommend to thriller fans. However there are quite a few triggers in this book so may not be for everyone. I have mentioned the main ones in my review which should be going up over the weekend. So, keep an eye out for that!!!

Next up on my TBR is The Bedwetter by Lee Allen Howard, I’m hoping to pick this up for an up coming blog tour. My stop isn’t till 8th July, but I’m trying to get ahead on my tour reads so I don’t end up stressing myself out!!

What’s  everyone currently reading, finished reading or planning to read next? Don’t forget to leave links to your WWW Wednesday

Happy Reading!!!

    • Thanks Leslie!! Yay!!! I know right? I definitely made good use of the online services that the library offers but definitely not as good as borrowing a physical book!! Hope you managed to pick up some great reads!! Happy reading!! ❤❤

  2. Sounds like you had a great weekend! Babyshowers are not really a thing here, so the idea is a bit alien to me, even more so a virtual one. How does that go down? Is it like a conference call? Do you send the gifts via post earlier?

I don’t really know any of the books on your list but Firewatching looks cool. My boyfriend has played a walking simulator called Firewatch so I think I would pick this one from your pile. 🙂

    • Yes was a great weekend!! The virtual baby shower was done over a video call over Zoom, it was a nice afternoon of fun. I still prefer the traditional get together but due to restrictions had to go virtual. Yes gifts were sent ahead of the baby shower and then the couple opened them during the video call.

      The walking simulator sounds interesting!!
