Synopsis/Blurb (Taken from Goodreads):
“Rowan has gone rogue, and has taken it upon himself to put the Scythedom through a trial by fire. Literally. In the year since Winter Conclave, he has gone off-grid, and has been striking out against corrupt scythes—not only in MidMerica, but across the entire continent. He is a dark folk hero now—“Scythe Lucifer”—a vigilante taking down corrupt scythes in flames.
Citra, now a junior scythe under Scythe Curie, sees the corruption and wants to help change it from the inside out, but is thwarted at every turn, and threatened by the “new order” scythes. Realizing she cannot do this alone—or even with the help of Scythe Curie and Faraday, she does the unthinkable, and risks being “deadish” so she can communicate with the Thunderhead—the only being on earth wise enough to solve the dire problems of a perfect world. But will it help solve those problems, or simply watch as perfection goes into decline?”

My Thoughts & Review
I was a little worried that I wouldn’t enjoy Thunderhead as much as Scythe as in most cases I have find that middle books normally suffer and aren’t as well written. But I was so wrong, This one was the best of the two so far.
Shusterman has done a fantastic job with this one. He has managed to make the story flow effortlessly from where Scythe left us. Yes, I did find the first half a little slow but the second half was brilliant, with so much more action and suspense. In the first book I found the world building to be a slow but was better paced in this one. We actually get to learn about the Scythedom in more detail. The ending had me shook, I wasn’t expecting that at all.
Between the two books you can really see the characters grow. I found Citra much more interesting and compelling in Thunderhead than in Scythe. I also preferred the both Citra and Rowan were split up in this book. As I mentioned in my review of Scythe I wasn’t a fan of romance and with it being less evident in Thunderhead I thought it was much better.
Overall, Thunderhead definitely a great read and my favourite so far. If you haven’t picked up the series yet, I think it’s well worth giving a go.
