Synopsis/Blurb (Taken from Goodreads):
“Barney has been brought up under the watchful eye of humans, known as the Johnsons, where he has found a peacefully tolerable existence. Turmoil in the family pushes him out into the town which took the place of the forest that once stood before it. Darkness envelops him as he experiences humans who are less favourable of bears whilst he attempts to latch on to hope of his former way of life.”
My Thoughts & Review
Development is the second book in The Black Bear Brotherhood series. In this book we meet Barney who was captured by humans when he was just a cub, but now he’s a fully grown service bear, who has been sold by his owner to help keep her newly acquired family business after he mothers death. We follow Barney’s journey as he is sold on and life is not the same again.
Although it’s a difficult read in terms of how cruelly the bears are treated I did enjoy the story very much. I liked how the story is told through Barney’s perspective. Once again I do wish that this book was a little longer so that we could get to know the characters more.
I without a doubt enjoyed this book much more than the first, and through the writing I could really tell that the authors confidence in the series is growing.
I’m really looking forward to the next instalment in The Black Bear Brotherhood series!!!
A big thank you to Henry for sending me an eARC of this book in return for an honest and unbiased review.
