2021 Reading Goals & Challenges

2020 was the year were I actually managed to achieve and finish all my reading goals and challenges that I had set and signed up for. So, for 2021 I’ve set myself some more goals and probably signed up to too many challenges!!!

So let’s get into what I’ve signed up to!!

Personal Challenges

  2. The Dragon Republic
  3. The Burning God

Arc Of A Scythe Series by Neal Shusterman

  1. Sycthe

  3. The Toll

The Collector Series by Dot Hutchison

  1. The Butterfly Garden
  2. Roses of May
  3. The Summer Children
  4. The Vanishing Season

2021  GOODREADS CHALLENGES

For 2021 I have signed up for 5 yearly challenges on Goodreads. OOPS!!! Didn’t realise I’d signed up to so many.

2021 Reading Challenge:

This year I’m going for 130 again!! I hope to smash it again this year!!

Let’s Turn Pages:

This year I’m setting my target to 30,000 pages. I’m setting this one a little lower than 2020, just because looking at the books I hope to read, they dont look as big this year.

TBR Jar:

For this challenge I’ve decided that I’m going to try and read 10 books from my TBR Jar. I’ve picked the following books from my main TBR Jar but I’m going to put them back into a new jar/cup and pick out which ones to read each month.

  1. The Tiger’s Wife by Téa Obreht
  2. The Butterfly Garden by Dot Hutchison
  3. Orange Is The New Black by Piper Kerman
  4. The Truth Will Out by Jane Isaac
  5. Now Is The Time For Running by Michael Williams
  6. All the Little Children by Jo Furniss
  7. A River In Darkness: One Man’s Escape from North Korea by Masaji Ishikawa
  8. Cilka’s Journey by  Heather Morris
  9. Cell by Stephen King
  10. Duma Key by Stephen King

Mount TBR 2021:

The aim for this is to reach the top of the mountain by reading the number of books that are indicated. All the books must be from your owned TBR, but the books must have been added before 1st Jan 2021.

I’m aiming to climb Mount Blanc again this year, which means I need to read 24 books from my TBR.

Virtual Mount TBR 2021:

For this one the aim is to get through the list of books that you really want to read but don’t own. So, for this challenge it means reading all those books you’ve borrowed or downloaded from the library.

This year I’m aiming to reach the top of Mount Crumpit, which means I will be attempting to read 24 books from my virtual library.

There are a few more challenges I have my eye on but I’ve not officially signed up to them as I don’t want to stress myself out trying to complete them all, but I will let you know if I end up completing any along the way.

Also hope you all have a fantastic year of reading!!! I’d love to hear about your 2021 goals and challenges so do let me know in the comments down below!!

  1. I love your list of challenges the TBR jar! I have set my target for 60 books this year, I managed to make 55 last year so hopefully will be able to reach this year’s target. I hope you have an excellent year, Mani, and read many great books!

  2. Great list of goals! I’ve only gone for number of books on Goodreads. Set it at 50 again (missed by 1 in 2020) I also want to read more of the books I already own so I’ve made a shelf of books I’m going to read this year which is about half my target.
