Synopsis/Blurb (Taken from Goodreads):
“Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people. Gaiman stays true to the myths while vividly reincarnating Odin, the highest of the high, wise, daring, and cunning; Thor, Odin’s son, incredibly strong yet not the wisest of gods; and Loki, the son of giants, a trickster and unsurpassable manipulator. From Gaiman’s deft and witty prose emerges the gods with their fiercely competitive natures, their susceptibility to being duped and to dupe others, and their tendency to let passion ignite their actions, making these long-ago myths breathe pungent life again.“

My Thoughts & Review
This year I’ve really been enjoying reading Mythology retellings and couldn’t wait to get started on this one when a couple of friends dropped of their copy for me to borrow.
I really enjoyed the writing style in this one it was simple and easy to read. I found some of the retellings to be very interesting and entertaining. There were a few that had me laughing while others were a little slow and a bit boring. These boring parts I tried to read past as fast as possible.
Even with some of the stories being a bit hit and miss I would say overall it was good, and would recommend this one to anyone who is new to reading mythology retellings. Also, there is a super helpful glossary of characters in the back of the book which I made great use of.

Reading your review and seeing some of the recent Marvel comic movies, make me want to read this book to get the non-Hollywood version of this mythology.
