Synopsis/Blurb (Taken from Goodreads):
“When two strangers end up sharing a cabin on the Trans-Siberian Express, an intense friendship develops, one that can only have one ending β¦ a nerve-shattering psychological thriller from bestselling author SJI Holliday
Carrie’s best friend has an accident and can no longer make the round-the-world trip they’d planned together, so Carrie decides to go it alone.
Violet is also travelling alone, after splitting up with her boyfriend in Thailand. She is also desperate for a ticket on the Trans-Siberian Express, but there is nothing available.
When the two women meet in a Beijing Hotel, Carrie makes the impulsive decision to invite Violet to take her best friend’s place.
Thrown together in a strange country, and the cramped cabin of the train, the women soon form a bond. But as the journey continues, through Mongolia and into Russia, things start to unravel β because one of these women is not who she claims to be.”

My Thoughts & Review
Having heard and seen lots of positive reviews for this book I had too as it to my TBR. I managed to pick up a copy from my local library back In March just before the library closed for the first lockdown.
Violet is a well written psychological thriller, with a twisted dark plot, but one I found quite predictable as I managed to work out what was going to happen and had my suspicions about the ending. I also started to get bored with the whole party and drugs scenes, they just became really repetitive and I found that this made the characters quite unreliable.
I feel that this book could have been a lot better but overall not a bad read. I may have not loved this book like most people but I will definitely be giving this author another go in the near future.
