First Lines Friday

Welcome to my “First Lines Fridays”.

This is a weekly meme, that I first saw on Jill’s Book Blog and which is originally hosted by Wondering Words.

Rules:

  1. Choose a book from your shelves/current read
  2. Open the book to the first page
  3. Copy the first line on the page, making sure you don’t give away the book title
  4. Reveal the book.

FIRST LINES:

The sun shone over the Vale of Strange and multi-coloured bogeys flew out of a sky full of fluffy clouds. Close at hand, a man and a woman and two children picked their was between cute little bouncing heeble-greebs, smiling as they waved at the monsters all around.

Do you recognise which book these lines come from?

This weeks book is…

Stranger Days on Peculiar Hill

Synopsis/Blurb (taken from Goodreads):

“The sequel to ‘The Shop on Peculiar Hill’.
Peter returns to the Vale of Strange with his new friend Mala, hoping to find her father, the hapless explorer Augustus Flipper, who has disappeared in a sudden outbreak of strangeness. Peter and Mala have to grapple with a number of difficult questions. Why is the unpleasant Percival Crow building a swimming pool even though he never takes a swim? Why have the mysterious four-foot-high bearded Australians taken against Uncle Bob? And what has produced the lights in the sky and the multicoloured bubbles of strangeness all across Mala’s lawn? Peter suspects that something big is happening here, but the most important question is this: will the reluctant Amanda decide to help them after all?
