Hi All!!!
This year I’ve read some wonderful books, but I’ve also read some not so great books. So, today I share with you all a list of books I finished but didn’t enjoy.
Please note these are all based on my reading preference and enjoyment and I have nothing against the author, also very sorry if your favourite book is on this list.
These are in no particular order.
Bridge of Clay by Markus Zusuk
Half Blood Blues by Esi Edugyan
Jamaica Inn by Daphne Du Maurier
The Wych Elm by Tara French
Family Album by Penelope Lively
China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan
The Water Cure by Sophie Mackintosh
Milk & Honey by Rupi Kaur
The Testaments by Margret Atwood
City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert
Catch 22 by Joseph Heller
Choosing Me: Love Letters from a Poet, Volume 1 by Bill Weber

Siddhartha because I’m not sure what the author was trying to tell me. But I’m considering a reread.
Things Fall Apart because too much characters and foreign languages I couldn’t get used to.
Hotel Iris probably because I was expecting too much from the author because I enjoyed The Housekeeper and the Professor a lot.

Oh only heard of one of these, and that’s Siddhartha. It’s actually on my TBR list.

I was so disappointed in Bridge of Clay! 😢 I ended up skimming most of it. Sad and depressing.

Tell me about it Carol!!! Then I finished it and wished I hadn’t had bothered ☹

And it was soooooo loooong!!! And obscure at points!!! At times I had to go back and reread and still couldn’t figure out the gist. Too overwritten and over thought! I can’t image it’s going over well with the targeted YA crowd! But others have loved it, so who knows?!

Oh god I LOATHED Catch 22 when I read it as a teenager… do not get why that book is considered a classic at all

Catch 22 actually started getting on my nerves, it was SO repetitive and nothing really happen. Definitely agree I don’t get how it’s a classic either.
