This week I’m sharing  quotes from the book Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picot. This is another book I read a few years ago. These quotes will get you thinking.

“If you gave someone your heart and they died, did they take it with them? Did you spend the rest of forever with a hole inside you that couldn’t be filled?”

“You don’t need water to feel like you’re drowning, do you?”

“Something still exists as long as there’s someone around to remember it.”

“Can you hate someone for what they have done, but still love them for whom they had been?”

“There are two ways to be happy: improve your reality, or lower your expectations.”

“Happiness is what you choose to remember.”

“If you were drifting with a thousand other people, could you really still say you were lost?”

Have you read this book? Do you have any favourite quotes from it? Would love to read them. Feel free to share them in the comments below.

  1. I’ll definitely add Jodi Picot to my August reading list.
I do have a quote I absolutely love, although not by her.
It appears on the second last page of “An Autobiography” by Agatha Christie.
She goes to visit the place where the house she grew up in, Ashfield, once stood.
“And then I saw the only clue – the defiant remains of what had once been a monkey puzzle, struggling to exist in a cluttered back yard.(…)
I said ‘Brave monkey puzzle’ to it, and turned away.
But I minded less after I had seen what had happened. Ashfield had existed once but its day was over. and because whatever had existed still does exist in eternity, Ashfield is still Ashfield. To think of it causes me no more pain.”

  2. I really enjoy Jodi Picoult’s books but I haven’t read Nineteen Minutes so will have to add it to my list. Also, I love reading your weekly quotes post – thank you for sharing them! ❤️
