WWW Wednesday – 17th July 2019

Happy Wednesday Everyone!!!

Welcome to another round of WWW Wednesday. I hope you’ve all had wonderful reading week.

Since last weeks post, I managed to finish a good number of bookd, as well as DNF’ing a couple. I hadn’t planned on reading as much as I have managed, as I had plans to catch up with family and friends over the weekend. But, somehow I managed to squeezed in quite a bit of reading, which is always a bonus.

What is WWW Wednesday?

It’s a weekly meme that I first discovered on Roachies Reviews blog, and that is originally hosted by Taking on a World of Words.

All you have to do is answer 3 simple questions:

What are you currently reading?

What have you recently finished reading?

What do you plan to read next?

So, without further ado here’s my WWW Wednesday for this week.

What are you currently reading?

Saturday evening I started Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi. I finally got my copy from the library. It had arrived a few weeks ago but someone decided they were going to take my hold, from the hold shelf at the library, so I had to wait until another copy arrived. I was planning to read this one nearer to the end of the month but someone else has put a hold on it so I decided to pick it up this week, so I can finish it in time, before I need to return it. So far I’m loving this book.

Yesterday I also picked up The Things We Learn When We’re Dead by Charlie Laidlaw on my Kindle, which was sent to me by the author. I’ve not got very far with this one.

What have you recently finished reading?

The first book I finished was The Binding by Bridget Collins. Sadly, this book wasn’t what I was excepting. It had a promising start but sadly didn’t deliver for me. You can read my full review here.

The second book I finished was We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal. This was a good read but not outstanding as I’ve heard it to be. I’m working on my review for this one as I’m still trying to work out what rating to give it. So, hopefully it should be coming next week.

We Hunt The Flame

The last book I finished was White Oaks by Jill Hands. This was such a good read especially after the last 2 books I mentioned. It’s quite a short book but still has lots happening. I’m planning to have a review up for this one by Saturday if all goes to plan.

White Oaks

Oh and I also DNF’ed two books. The first book was The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzie Lee. I got about 20% into this book but just couldn’t go any further, I just couldn’t get into it.

The second book I DNF’ed was Why Mummy Swears by Gill Sims. This was recommended to me by several family members and also a friend who doesn’t really read much. They all loved it, so I thought I would give it ago. I struggled my way through to  page 115 and just couldn’t read any more of it. I found it quite boring. It’s just about a mum who complained about nearly everything from looking after her kids during school holidays and moaning about other people. It wasn’t very exciting. Oh well time to move onto some more exciting books now (hopefully).

What do you think you’ll read next?

I’m not sure what I’ll be reading next but it will definitely be choosing from the following:

  1. The Necromancer’s Prison by Alec Whitesell
  2. The Betrayal of Ka by Shea Oliver
