My Thoughts & Review

This was our April read for book club, and I have to admit this may have been the worst book I’ve read since joining the group. I attempted to read this book physically several times but just couldn’t get past the first 20 odd pages. I nearly DNF-ed it. I came so close but I really wanted to take part in the discussion so I decided to try the audiobook version. I managed to get to the end of the book but sadly, I still wasn’t really into it. In fact, I listened to it at x2 speed so I could get through it quicker and then forget about it until our book club discussion.

So, this book had to potential to be a great and exciting adventure and a book that I should have enjoyed but something was missing from this story, and the frustrating thing is I just don’t know what that something missing is.

The characters were interesting but I wasn’t able to really connect with them or the story.  I found the book to be very slow and this made me feel very bored. I felt I had to concentrate too much on what I was reading.

I also found it to be quite repetitive when it came to descriptions of things.

Sadly, this book wasn’t for me and it’s not a book I would attempt to re-read again, recommend  or add to my Classics collection. But, you never know you may enjoy this one better than me.
