Classical reads!! (Mini Reviews)

So this week I’ve been been reading a couple of classics which I’ve been wanting to read for years but have never got around to them until now.  So, I decided to do a mini review of the two books that I read.

I’ve attempted to read both of these books before but just wasn’t in the mood for them so kept putting them down.

The first classical book I finished  was Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and then second was Pride and Prejudice by

My Thoughts & Review

I’ve wanted to read this for so long, and I finally got around to it. It’s been years since I wanted to read the full version of this book. The first time I read this story was when I was at school. I remember my English teacher giving out a very simplified version of the story. But I just kept putting off reading it especially after watching the many variations of the movies, which I didn’t really enjoy.

Well after reading the book, I can now see there was so many details missing. And the book was definitely way better.

I felt the book was really well written and it drew me into the story gradually.  I say this because it was a little slow and a bit too wordy in places. But once I got into it I found it very hard to put down.

I enjoyed the characters and again they were so much more developed and interesting than the movie adaptations. In fact they are so different to what I was expecting them to be.

Definitely worth a read if you haven’t read it before and have only watched the  movies.

My Thoughts & Review

Another classic read that I can tick of my TBR. I’m not usually one to read romances but this one has been on my TBR for a while. Many of my friends have read it and kept bugging me to read it so I finally downloaded an audiobook and got listening.

I didn’t enjoy this one, I sort of knew from the beginning that this wasn’t going to be my favourite. But thought I would give it a go anyway. I wasn’t a fan of the old English language that is used and it took me quite a while to get used to it. I found the story to be a little slow and even boring on occasions.

I can really see why so many people loved this book, but sadly it really wasn’t for me.

My Rating

I’ve kept both of these reviews short and sweet as I don’t want to spoil anything for those of you who haven’t read these books.

Have you read either of these books? What did you think of them? Leave a comment below and let’s have a chat.

Happy Reading!!!

  1. I keep meaning to read Pride and Prejudice! I’ve had it sitting on my shelves for 6ish years now… I started reading it once and got a few chapters in, but the complete frivolity of the characters annoyed me
