Synopsis/Blurb (taken from review request email):
“Prowling Tiger is a picture book story in poem form about a Tiger who loses his stripes while doing his laundry. He prowls through his jungle home searching for his stripes and bumps into peacock who has lost his tail, mongoose who has lost his nose and wolf who has lost his teeth. All these things have been stolen by a beastie who uses them to adorn himself. Eventually the animals regain their lost parts and are taught a valuable lesson. Beautifully illustrated.”
My Thoughts & Review
This was a nice little book that is simple yet has a hidden story that teaches children about valuable lessons that I think everyone should learn about.
I really liked the simple poem style that is used to write this story.
I read the book to my nephew and he really enjoyed it, however there were some words that he didn’t understand, so when we re-read it again I had to swap out some of the words for simpler ones. He also really liked the illustrations. His favourite was the Tiger.
This is a great book that is great that I recommend for families with young children, but I would recommend for children aged 5+, if you do read it to younger children you may need to simplify the story.
I must also mention that Irina Shumova has done a fabulous job with the illustrations. They are so bright and colourful. Exactly how illustrations in children’s book should be.
I would like to that LoveReading UK and the author for sending me a copy of this ebook in return for an honest and unbiased review.
