My Thoughts & Review
I’ve wanted to read this since it came out but never actually got around to it. I actually own a signed copy and it had been waiting to be read on my TBR pile but it wasn’t a priority read, I knew I would get around to it eventually. But then my friend told me they were reading it for our January read I was both excited but sceptical. I had heard lots of mixed reviews about this book, some had told me they’d loved it and others had said they had given up. So, I went into reading it with an open mind.
When I first started the book, I thought was going to be turn into a chick lit that I wouldn’t enjoy, but I slowly started to warm to it and in the end I really enjoyed. I thought the story was really well written, with great pacing and characterisation, however, a little predictable at times. I found the book to be a breath of fresh air. It was also funny and sad at the same time.
I thought the author done a great job with the small cast of characters. I especially liked the main character Eleanor. She was an interesting and well developed character who I enjoyed very much. I liked how the author reveals the truth about Eleanor bit by bit. Even though it’s not mentioned or discussed in the book I kept thinking Eleanor was showing traits of some mild form of autism or learning difficult but I’m not an expert and that’s just my opinion.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I recommend you give it ago if you haven’t already read it.
