So a few days ago I logged into NetGalley and Edelweiss to see what new eARCS I could request. But before requesting any I thought it would be a good idea to check my Approved shelf first. Oh My Goodness!!! I was in shock I knew I had been approved for a few new eARCs recently but I didn’t realise I had so many waiting to be read and reviewed already.
I discovered that I have 12 books in total to read and review. 5 of these books have already been published and at least 2 more will be published by the time I get around to reading them. So now I am officially behind on my eARCs. I know this may not be a big deal to some and you’ve probably got more than this but to me it’s a big deal I normally like to post my reviews either before the books are officially published or just after. But since I’ve started reviewing ARCs this is the first time I’ve ever been behind on reviewing them.
Plus these are just my NetGalley and Edelweiss books, they don’t include the eARCs that have been sent to me directly by the authors.
I’ve now put myself on a NetGalley and Edelweiss ban until I can reduce my list to a more manageable amount. Although I know this ban won’t last long, but it’s worth trying.
I’ve set myself a challenge to have these read by the beginning of April so lets see how far I can get.
Are you a NetGalley addict? if so how many books do you have on NetGalley shelf that you still need to read? Let me know down below.
I have Five Feet Apart, The Binding and Romanov as well! So many books!

I know way too many books!! But I’m on a mission to get through them all before the summer so I can start finishing some of my owned books 😊

I have a lot more Netgalley titles than I would like to admit. I’m better on Edelweiss since they make you write why you want the book. Really makes me think about it more

I agree Edelweiss is better for keeping the amount of books I request under control. It’s coming up to about 7 months since I signed up with them and I’ve only request 6 books. Where as on NetGalley I’ve requested over 60 in roughly the same amount of time 😂🙈

Lol wow. Yeah Netgalley is really hard not to request a ton of books because they make the process so easy. I like edelweiss though, you can keep requesting after getting denied and they don’t care about stats as much.

Oh I didn’t know you could keep requesting after being denied on Edelweiss. Thanks for the tip.

My friend from Goodreads told me. In order to re-request you click on the notification on your home page and then there is an option to request again. I have gotten accepted that way.

I have gotten a lot of books that I was originally declined for by re-requesting!

Well I failed my own ban, I ended up downloading another 2 books after posting this post so I crossed off 2 books and added another 2 books.

I love Net Galley! I made myself not request anymore until I had finished because it was getting out of hand

Don’t they only last 50 ISH days before the disappear? Mine have a countdown lol

I’ve never had a count down. But think if you haven’t downloaded them before they are archived then you get a countdown, but if you download them then you shouldn’t get the counter.

Oh yes. I’m definitely a NetGalley addict. I’m in the uncomfortable position now of not being able to request anything for fear of losing my 80% feedback ratio. I worked to get it for 3 years so would hate to lose it…

Would it make you feel better if I told you I’m 43 eARCs behind on NetGalley…? 😀

Thanks that does make me feel much better 😂
I think I would have a total break down if I had that many lol.

Would it make you feel better to know that I’m 70 eARCs behind?

Sure does lol.
I should be able to tick one more off the list by the weekend.

What happens if you’re really late reviewing on netgalley readers first etc?

I have no idea lol. I posted a few of my reviews on NetGalley and just apologised to the publishers for the delay.
For Readers First I think you just don’t get the points or something I’ve only used it once and still trying to work out how submitting the reviews work.
