Synopsis/Blurb (taken from Goodreads):

A forbidden romance.

A deadly plague.

Earth’s fate hinges on one girl . . .

CINDER, a gifted mechanic in New Beijing, is also a cyborg. She’s reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s sudden illness. But when her life becomes entwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she finds herself at the centre of a violent struggle between the desires of an evil queen – and a dangerous temptation.

Cinder is caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal. Now she must uncover secrets about her mysterious past in order to protect Earth’s future.

This is not the fairytale you remember. But it’s one you won’t forget.

My Thoughts & Review

I finally got around to picking this book up. I’d heard lots of great things about it, but never got around to it until now. Now I know what the hype is all about.

I wasn’t sure if I would like this book as I haven’t really read many books based on retellings but, I’m really glad that I got the chance to read/listen to this book as I really enjoyed it.

I liked how the book followed a plot line similar to Cinderella but yet was still a little different that made it fell new and interesting. I also thought the way Marissa Meyer used the sci-fi perspective, it made the book feel more modern and interesting.

While listen to the audiobook I thought the writing sounded a little simple but it made it easier to listen to it as it didn’t need me to pay too much attention to it.

I felt there were some good strong characters in this book. My favourite character from the book was Cinder. I thought her character had great characterisation. I liked how  Cinder’s character was strong and independent.

Rebecca Soler the narrator of this audiobook was really good. I thought she read the book beautifully and brought the characters to life, which made the book even better.

I know most of you have probably already read this book but if you haven’t I highly recommend.
