This week I’m sharing some quotes from the book The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton. This is just a selection of my favourites from the book

“Every woman is the architect of her own fortune.”

“Pity, unlike hate, can be boxed and put away.”

“A lifetime isn’t enough to know how a person will behave.”

“You are a stone, thrown upon a lake. But the ripples you create will never make you still.”

“Love is best a phantom than reality, better in the chase than caught.”

“Nothing here is more fabulous than the truth”

“Everything man sees he takes for a toy. ‘Thus is he always, forever a boy.”

Have you read this book? Do you have any favourite quotes from it? Would love to read them. Feel free to share them in the comments below.

  1. It is amazing how this author appropriates the sayings of others or general idioms. Amazing and worrying. “Every woman is the architect of her own fortune.” is a rephrasing of a Roman philosopher and “love…better in the chase than caught” is straight out of the 1980s song. I guess my favourite quote is “Pity, unlike hate, can be boxed and put away”.
